Harold Howe explains how the Breeder’s lawsuit signals a serious shift in attitude for the Ontario Standardbred breeders. As Harold puts it “The Ontario harness racing industry has finally announced a change of direction — no more Mister Nice Guy.”

Last week the Ontario standardbred breeders announced it is suing the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for $65 million in damages due to the provincial decision to summarily cancel the highly successful slots at racetracks program. In effect it destroyed the breeding industry, and after two years of negotiation the breeders finally threw in the towel and served notice.
