SBOA Announces Cashback for Ontario Yearlings

Standardbred Breeders of Ontario (SBOA) have announced that they’ll be awarding significant Cashback bonuses to selected buyers of Ontario-sired yearlings from Ontario sales this fall.

The SBOA will give $5000 each in “Cashback” to the new owners of four yearlings, two from the Canadian Yearling Sale, September 10-11 at Flamboro Downs, and two from the Forest City Yearling Sale at the Western Fair Agriplex, Oct. 15-16.

Draws from the yearling names will take place on Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals Night, at Woodbine Racetrack, Saturday, Nov. 12th.

Cheques will be issued to the new owner(s) as transferred by Standardbred Canada. The awards will be issued regardless of the yearling’s selling price, and regardless of the buyer’s place of residence.

Cashback for yearlings this year is just one more way that SBOA is encouraging the breeding and buying of Ontario yearlings.  The breeders group continues to subsidize its highly successful Owner Mentoring Program which recruits and guides newcomers through the yearling buying and racehorse owning process.

This year SBOA is partnering with the Ontario Sires Stakes to offer a share in the 2011 Mentoring group to the top contestant in the Win the Thrill Contest to be decided October 1st on Grassroots Finals Night at Mohawk Racetrack.

The SBOA also represents Ontario breeders’ interests on several industry boards and annually provides breeders awards to the top five finishers in the WEG/SBOA Stakes Finals for 3-year-old filly trotters and pacers. Eliminations for those events take place on August 19th at Mohawk Racetrack.
