Preferred 2 Handicap At The Raceway At Western Fair Goes To Ontario-Bred, Mckinney

The betting public was all over Mckinney in Tuesday’s $11,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 2 Handicap at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and the gelding didn’t disappoint.

Brad Forward got away third with Mckinney while Tero charged to the lead and laid down solid panels of :27, :55.4 and 1:24.2. Mckinney was on the move first-over in the backstretch, and he gradually chipped away before using a :30.1 closing quarter to win by a head over Tero in 1:54.4. Mach It Big tagged along to grab the show dough in the five-horse affair.

Sent off as the even-money choice, the Corey Johnson trainee won for the third time this season. He’s stashed away more than $34,000 this season, while his lifetime earnings shot to $297,348 with the win. Arthur Slack, Ted Smith and Debbie Element own the 18-time winner.
