ORC Upholds Horsepeople’s Appeal on Rescheduled OSS Gold event

The OSS 2-year-old Gold Trot Eliminations which were postponed with the cancellation of the July 21st Mohawk card, will be raced on August 19 and eligibles will be restricted to ONLY the 27 horses that were entered on July 21st.

The Ontario Racing Commission has released the results of an August 11th hearing into the matter and provided details on its decision.

On July 22nd, the Program Administrator had issued a notice that the 2 year-old Colt Trot Eliminations would be rescheduled to August 19th. The Program Administrator had also advised that the rescheduled event would be opened up to all eligible OSS horses, and that the restriction to Grassroots #2 horses would be lifted. This decision was appealed by a number of horsepeople with horses entered in the July 21st events.

The ORC Chair Rod Seiling allowed the August 11th appeal and ordered as follows:

The rescheduled event will be open only to those horses that were entered into the July 21, 2011 event.  There will be a redrawing of post positions thereby ensuring that any of the 27 horses that may have become ineligible due to not having the required “clean” line will have the opportunity to re-qualify before the entry box closes. Furthermore, any horse that opts not to re-enter will not be subject to the starting fee.

The interests of all original horses are advised that:
1. All horses must be re-entered.
2. All horses must be eligible at the time of entry.
