Norris Rogers drove Machinthesand in the $2,300 Preferred for trainer Hughie Murphy and the ownership group of Noonan Holdings Ltd. — Russell and Karen Noonan. The time of the mile was 1:56.1. Oh To Be Me (Gary Chappell) was second with Outside The Wire (Jason Hughes) third.

Corey MacPherson had a hat-trick on the 11-dash program winning with Goodmorningdiva for local owner/trainer Frank Banks, Useful Hanover for owner Jason Sherry of Kensington, P.E.I. and Eastcoast Down in 1:57.4 for a new record on the pacer for Gordon Ross of Clifton Royal, N.B.

Gary Chappell had a driving double with scores aboard Acton O So Royal for conditioner Colleen Chappell and opened up the afternoon with a visit to victory lane with Lorne Valley Ricki for Barry Peter MacLeod of Cardigan, P.E.I.
