Ontario-Sired, Wrangler Magic, Repeats In $30,000 Preferred At Mohawk

Wrangler Magic ($3.10) took charge up the far side and held a quartet of foes at bay to capture her second straight $30,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred pacing event at Mohawk Racetrack.

Louis-Phillipe Roy sent the five-year-old Mach Three mare forward to contest the early pace between Sandbetweenurtoes (Doug McNair) and Rubis Prescott (Sylvain Filion), and ultimately settled Wrangler Magic in the pocket behind Sandbetweenurtoes through a :27.2 first quarter before angling out upon reaching the backstretch. Wrangler Magic dueled to the fore at a :55.2 half mile, and never looked back from that point on. After achieving the lead at mid-race, Wrangler Magic withstood steady first-over pressure from Request For Parole (Ed Hensley), keeping her three-quarters of a length at bay while under mild urging for a 1:51.2 victory. Sandbetweenurtoes stayed on for third.

Rene Allard trains Wrangler Magic—now a five-time winner this year—for Allard Racing, Inc., Dr. Maurice Stewart, and Kapildeo Singh.
