Three Rockets captured the 106th edition of the Le 5 Milles Casino-Charlevoix on Sunday afternoon (August 14) at the Hippodrome de la Vallée in Saint-Aimé-des-Lacs, Que.
Three Rockets won the $10,000 five-mile marathon in a time of 11:27 by two lengths over Stonebridge Bonus (Pascal Berube) and Force Seelster (Mario Charron). Marie Claude Auger drove the five-year-old Mach Three gelding, who was acquired by Louison Morin, Beauceville, Que. prior to the historic race and joined the Andre Champagne stable.
The victory was the first in over two years for Three Rockets, who has won five races lifetime and $26,283 in total purse earnings. He paid $30.90 to win.
Defending champion Sea Donkey finished a distant fourth in this year’s event.
