Ontario-Sired, Stonebridge Quest, Romps In Preferred

 

Stonebridge Quest left her rivals in the dust as she took off in the final turn and won the featured $10,000 Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap for distaff pacers by more than eight lengths on Wednesday night (March 22) at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Driver Bob McClure sent the favourite on a wire-to-wire quest, leaving out from post five and clocking fractions of :29, : 58.3 and 1:27 before drawing off to score in a season’s-best time of 1:55.4. Greystone Ladylike (Alfie Carroll) closed from the back of the eight-horse field to finish second ahead of Solid Queen (Garrett Rooney).

Stonebridge Quest is a five-year-old daughter of Camluck out of Glacier Express owned by
Glenview Livestock Ltd. of Wallenstein, Ont. and breeder Angie Stiller of Arva, Ont.

The Andrew McCabe trainee, who raced at Woodbine last time out and had two prior victories in the Preferred 2 class at The Raceway this year, was the 4-5 favourite and paid $3.30 to win.
