Ontario-Sired, Our Star, Earns 50th Career Win

Fresh off an Old Home Week win, Brian Hinkley’s Our Star ($2.60) sustained a first-over push from race’s outset to wear down My Tie Wind and earn a 2:00.3 victory in Wednesday evening’s (August 23) $1,100 featured pacing event at Inverness Raceway.

The eight-year-old son of Rambaran was engaged from the outset, dueling with My Tie Wind (John Kennedy) through early splits of :30 and :58.3 before asserting and pushing clear of his inside rival up the far side. After using a :30.4 third quarter to gain three lengths of separation on the field, Our Star was able to outlast a late charge from R Es Aiden (Rodney Gillis) by 1-1/4 lengths to capture his 50th career win and his seventh of the year.

Mark MacQuarrie drove Our Star for trainer Walter Walker to cap a grand slam on the evening’s seven-race card. MacQuarrie also teamed up with Take The Chance ($4.70, 2:00.2), Canbec Is Back ($8.10, 2:02.3), and Euchred ($4.10, 2:00.2).
