Ontario-Sired, Much Adoo, Takes $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace At Mohawk

Waasmula got all the attention, but Much Adoo got all the money in Friday’s $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Mohawk Racetrack.

Sent off at odds of 9-2 in the six-mare affair, Much Adoo was treated to a two-hole trip behind Witch Dali. That front-stepper sliced out big splits of :26.3, :54.2 and 1:21.4 before coming under heavy pressure. Race favourite Waasmula took it to Witch Dali around the final turn, but her first-over bid was a short-lived one. Much Adoo edged out of the pocket and used a :27.4 closing quarter to win by a half-length margin over Ms Mac N Cheese in 1:49.4. Witch Dali was third.

Nick Gallucci trains the four-year-old daughter of Classic Card Shark-Michiko for owners Aaron Waxman of Carlisle and Alan Alber of Thornhill, Ont. The clocking was a lifetime best for the mare, who improved her 2016 record to 6-3-1 from 10 tries. The 11-time winner pushed her career earnings to $179,486.
