Ontario-Sired, Make Some Luck, Gives Jamieson First Training Win

Make Some Luck hauled down even-money favourite Champagne Phil in the featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace to give Stephanie Jamieson her first career training victory on Sunday night (June 18) at Georgian Downs.

Jamieson’s husband Jody drove Make Some Luck to the 1:51.4 triumph in the evening’s finale. He also shares ownership of the five-year-old Camluck gelding with Rene Allard.

Make Some Luck tracked Champagne Phil (Scott Coulter) from the pocket through fractions of :26.4, :55.2 and 1:23.2 before tipping outside off the final turn and overtaking that foe down the stretch to score by a neck. Lets Wait And See (Jason Ryan) finished five and a quarter lengths back in third. Sent postward as the 5-2 second choice, Make Some Luck paid $7.20 to win.

Stephanie Jamieson celebrated her first training triumph in just her third start. As for Make Some Luck, the victory was his fourth of the year from 17 starts and 18th career win.

Sunday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 was won by 3-5 favourite Weatherly and driver Robert Shepherd in 1:52.4 for trainer Murray Brethour and owner Murray Ferguson Jr.
