Ontario-Sired, Iwontdothatagain, Takes Fraser Down’s Open Pace

Stablemates Iwontdothatagain and Wrangler Cash shipped in and swept the top two spots in Friday night’s featured $12,000 Open Pace at Fraser Downs for Alberta-based trainer Kelly Hoerdt.

Its Eds Idea led the field through fractions of :27.2, :57 and 1:24.3 with last week’s winner Buddy Weiser, the 2-1 favourite, tracking in the pocket spot before the Hoerdt trainees went by. Driven by Hoerdt, Iwontdothatagainkicked home to win by one length in 1:53 with Wrangler Cash closing for second-place in rein to James Burke. Wrangler Cash edged out Buddy Weiser in the photo finish for place.

Sent postward as the 2-1 second choice, Iwontdothatagain paid $6.50 to win and combined with 21-1 longshot Wrangler Cash for a 5-3 exactor worth $43.90.

Iwontdothatagain made his provincial debut a winning one, but has now won four Open class events in a row with previous victories at Century Downs and Northlands Park. In total, the six-year-old Stonebridge Regal gelding has won 15 races this year and 21 lifetime.

Hoerdt shares ownership of the pacer with Ed Keryliuk of Edmonton, Alta. A $4,000 claim in January at Northlands, Iwontdothatagain has been a model of consistency all year while banking more than $80,000.
