Ontario-Sired, Gottaluckydeal, Defeats Open Mares At Century Downs

Gottaluckydeal journeyed first over to earn her first victory against Century Downs’ Open mares in Sunday’s $12,500 feature.

Gottaluckydeal’s trainer, Travis Cullen, was aboard to score his third winning drive of the day.

Rummys Command and trainer/driver Keith Clark crossed to command from the outermost post eight and led the field through fractions of :29.2, :59 and 1:27 while Gottaluckydeal advanced first over from mid-pack. Gottaluckydeal went by Rummys Command down the stretch and then held off favourite Tajmeallover, who closed off her cover and came within a half-length at the wire. Gottaluckydeal prevailed in 1:56.3 over the “good” track and notched her 15th win of the season. Nighttraintovegas came on for third.

Sent postward as the 5-2 second choice after third-place finishes in her two prior Open attempts last month, Gottaluckydeal paid $7.60 to win.

The six-year-old Sir Luck mare went over the $100,000 career earnings mark with the victory for owner/breeder Cory Manning of Belmont, M.B.

Cullen also drove another winning Manning homebred as four-year-old pacing mare Rocket Moma romped to a 10-3/4 length victory in an earlier race.
