Ontario-Sired, Got Some Spark Wins Preferred

Got Some Spark and driver Bob McClure prevailed off a pocket trip in the $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace on Wednesday night (June 14) at Grand River Raceway.

McClure tipped Got Some Spark out of the pocket turning for home and the five-year-old Camluck mare held off the wide-rallying Sr Beach Babe (Colin Kelly) to win by a neck in a lifetime-best 1:55.4 while Dixie Lullaby (Scott Coulter) closed even further out from the backfield to secure the third-place honours one length behind. Jump Jive And Jam (Paul MacKenzie) came through along the pylons for the fourth spot and Mach Magic (Robert Shepherd) finished just two lengths behind in fifth after clearing to the command at the :27.4 quarter and leading through middle fractions of :57.2 and 1:26.3.

Trained by Lindsey Kerr, Got Some Spark earned her third victory out of seven starts this season for owner Sally Charlton of Tecumseh, Ont. She paid $9.90 to win as the 4-1 third wagering choice.
