Ontario-Sired, Flanagan Memory, Sharp At Mohawk

After having put in a tune-up mile last week over Mohawk Racetrack, two-time O’Brien Award winner Flanagan Memory was on point at the Campbellville, Ont. oval on Tuesday (June 27) during the track’s seven-race qualifying session.

In rein to Louis-Philippe Roy in Post 4, Flanagan Memory was fastest off the switch in Race 2 and wasn’t headed throughout the mile.

The seven-year-old son of Kadabra cut the quarter in :28.2, went down to the half in :57 and spun off three quarters in 1:25.4. Roy still had the career winner of $1.6 million trotting at a good clip through the lane, as the bay finished off his mile with a 28-second final quarter.

Flanagan Memory’s win time was 1:53.4 and his margin of victory was seven and a half lengths for trainer Rene Dion, who co-owns with Liette Flanagan.

Canada’s top aged trotting horse of 2016 raced to a record of 6-2-3 from 14 starts last season. His $697,000 in earnings included the $250,000 he banked while winning his Breeders Crown final down at the Meadowlands Racetrack
