Sitting off of quick fractions, Deetzy capitalized from an off-the-pace effort to take the $18,000 Open Pace in 1:50 on Saturday, September 23 at Saratoga Harness.
Behind splits of :26.1 and :54.1, the Heidi-Rohr trained son of Jereme’s Jet moved first over to challenge dueling leaders, soon pouncing on the faltering tandem and extending to a large lead around the final turn. Somewhere Fancy tracked Deetzy’s rally to take second, while Dancin Yankee finished third.
Driven by Billy Dobson, Deetzy’s 1:50 victory was a lifetime best for the 7-1 winner.
