Ontario Sired, Camille, Wins Inaugural $50,000 Laverne HIll Memorial

Ontario-sired pacing mare Camille won the inaugural $50,000 Laverne Hill Memorial Pace, the first of three Grand Circuit Races to be held at Scioto Downs Racino at the 2014 meet, on Saturday night.

Camille is a six-year-old mare by Camluck. She’s conditioned by leading trainer Ron Burke and owned in partnership by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, M1 Stable and Jack Piatt III of Pennsylvania.

This mare is no stranger to the Grand Circuit with over $1 million in earnings, 28 career wins and a lifetime mark of 1:48.3.

Camille, driven by Chris Page, came with her game face on. Page made the move to the front after the dust settled, just past the quarter that was paced in :27.2.

She was strong on the front end tonight, pacing her final quarter in :28.2 and stopping the timer in 1:52.1. Camille held off late rallies from Shes Shocking and Igottafeelinfran.
