Ontario-Sired, Bet Ya, Takes $10,000 Preferred At Georgian Downs

A second-over trip turned into a narrow triumph for Bet Ya and trainer/driver Jack Moiseyev in Tuesday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Handicap for pacers at Georgian Downs.

Bet Ya hustled into an early four-hole for Moiseyev while Dawn Shooter sprinted to the lead and sliced out fractions of :27.2, :56.3 and 1:25.1. Heels On The Beach came first-over on the way to the three-quarter pole, and Bet Ya was hot on her heels. Bet Ya then used a :29-second closing quarter to propel herself to the neck decision over race favourite Heels On The Beach in 1:54.3. Dawn Shooter was a lapped-on third.

Bet Ya, a six-year-old daughter of Jeremes Jet-Star Princess, races for partners Joanne Colville and Nancy MacNevin. It was the second straight score for the homebred who improved this year’s record to 3-1-2 from 16 starts. The 22-time winner has stashed away more than $355,000 to date.
