Ontario-Sired, Absolut Seelster, Takes $11,500 Preferred At Flamboro

Trotting mare Absolut Seelster trounced her male rivals in Sunday night’s featured $11,500 Preferred 2 Handicap at Flamboro Downs.

Driven by Scott Coulter, Absolut Seelster ($9.30) posted a winning two-minute mile over the ‘good’ track, finishing nearly four lengths ahead of full-brothers Seeyou Men and Wildwild Men. The five-year-old mare, who led from start to finish to record her second win of the year from four starts, is trained by Ben Baillargeon and owned by Thomas and Elizabeth Rankin.

The evening’s $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace was won by Strato Boy ($14.50), who turned aside a challenge from pocket pursuer Rebel Voyager before crossing the wire in 1:58.1. Jason Ryan drove the six-year-old Allies Western gelding for trainer Mike Stoikopoulos and owner Tonya Backus. It was Strato Boy’s first win of the 2017 season.
