Ontario-Bred, J Rs Hurricane, Takes Summerside Feature

J RS Hurricane, with Ken Murphy in the bike, won the Sunday afternoon feature in 2:00.1 over a rain soaked track at Red Shores Summerside.

J RS Hurricane was Murphy’s third winner of the day. Outside The Wire (Brian MacPhee) burst off the gate to control the tempo through fractions of :29.1, :59.3 and 1:29.4 before fading to second in the $2,200 feature. Nogreatmischief (Walter Cheverie) completed the triactor. J RS Hurricane, who is owned and trained by Jean Charles Belliveau of Scoudouc, N.B., paid $31.90 to win.

Murphy and Clark Smith recorded a driving/training double when they teamed up for scores with Im Driven in the opener and All Out in the seventh.

Jason Hughes is only three victories away from career win 1,000 after top place finishes with Spirit Of America and Lucksgottachange for his brother Robi, and newcomer Nuck Phil for conditioner Jennifer Trainor.

Mark Bradley recorded driving doubles on the program while Terry Gallant and Alex Sobey each sent out a pair of winners from their stables.

The final card of the season goes next Sunday (Nov. 8) with post time at 12:30 p.m.
