Ontario-Bred, Betit To Getit, Wins Woodbine’s $30,000 Fillies And Mares Preferred

Betit To Getit overtook slight favourite Ms Mac N Cheese down the backstretch and then held off that rival down the stretch to win the $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace on Saturday night (Jan. 16) at Woodbine Racetrack.

Rick Zeron trains and drives the winning No Pan Intended mare for Billholland Racing of Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario. The Preferred victory was the first of three on the Saturday night program for the Oakville, Ontario horseman.

Ms Mac N Cheese (Sylvain Filion) was sent postward as the 7-5 favourite and she was the quickest off the gate while Marquise De Sarah (Jody Jamieson) filled the pocket spot ahead of Betit To Getit. After a :27.3 first quarter, Zeron made his move with 3-2 second choice Betit To Getit and they rushed to the lead by the half-mile mark, which was clocked in :56.2. Betit To Getit continued to the front the field of six past three-quarters in 1:24.2 and then held off Ms Mac N Cheese as they raced to the wire to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:52 flat. Greystone Ladylike (Mike Saftic) went first up to finish third, two and a half lengths behind the winner.

Betit To Getit’s 30th career win pushed her bankroll over the $300,000 mark. She is now two-for-two in her six-year-old campaign and has won seven of her last eight starts at Woodbine.
