Ontario-Based Owners, Libfeld And Katz, Launch Website

Toronto-based partners Al Libfeld and Marvin Katz have launched a new website to not only promote their sale yearlings, but to show how they evolved from the owners of trotting champions to one of the most respected breeding enterprises in the sport.

Their new website, www.libfeldkatz.com, has what one might expect with the partnerships’ inventory of sale yearlings and broodmares, but also featured is a section on the duo’s methodology for selecting fillies and mares and breeding potential champions. The site also takes a look at their accomplishments and most importantly, their future plans.

“As our breeding partnership and the number of yearlings we sell every year continue to grow, Al and I felt it was very important to let the industry’s buyers know exactly where we are today, and what our plans are, as we believe our best is yet to come.” Katz said.

“The new website shows total transparency. Potential yearling buyers can go there to see the colts and fillies we’re selling this fall, and the fillies we’re retaining to replenish our broodmare band.”

His partner Al Libfeld concurs. “We’ve become serious commercial breeders, and felt that it was time to step out and create an identity of our own. We always sell all of our yearling colts, like this year’s record-setting two year old French Laundry that we bred and sold.

“We now sell a significant number of yearling fillies as well. While we still purchase or retain several fillies every year to race and eventually add to our broodmare band, the end result of that is having her produce a great yearling for us to sell.”

The partnership’s 2014 yearlings will be sold by Hunterton Sales Agency at the Lexington Selected Sale, and by Midland Acres, Agent at Indiana Premier. The roster is posted on the site with links to each yearling’s “live” TrackIT pedigree. Yearling videos will also be added when available.

There is also a section on the site for those interested to sign up for periodic newsletters and yearling updates from the partnership.
