Nurse Mare Program Info For Ontario Breeders…Just In Case

‘Tis the foaling season and lots of bright-eyed healthy racing prospects are being delivered daily around the province.

The law of averages  says though, that sometimes things can go unavoidably wrong. It’s at times like that when we realize the value of the Nurse Mare Program that Standardbred Canada co-ordinates.

The program is often able to match the owner of a foal that has either been rejected or orphaned, with the owner of a mare who has just lost a foal. Ontario breeders who find themselves in either position are asked to call and register immediately.

Heather Reid of Standardbred Canada handles the Registry and during business hours is available at:
905-858-3060 or hreid@standardbredcanada.ca .

Outside business hours calls can be directed to: Jack McNiven, Ingersoll, ON  519-485-1040.

As well, David Carson Farms of Listowel, ON operates a full-fledged commercial Nurse Mare service. Information on their services is available at 519-291-2049  or:
