New Owners Group Formed

Once again, the SBOA has assembled a new group for the new owners mentorship program.  The new prospective owners met on August 9th and were introduced to this years mentor Dan Clark, a teacher for 36 years who is currently the Head of Boys Physical Education at Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School in Hamilton.  He has been involved in horse racing and ownership for the past 20 years.  Mike Keeling, trainer of two-time SBOA and O’Brien Award winner Elusive Desire, will be assuming training responsibilities.  The group will be picking out a yearling at one of two Ontario yearling sales being held this fall.

The SBOA New Owners Mentorship Program offers a unique learning opportunity for new owners to come together and to learn about horse ownership while having the thrill of having a horse compete in the worlds best sires stakes program.   Jamie Trott of Orangeville, Ont and Frank Aloise of Brampton were part of the SBOA Mentoring Program’s initial ventures.  This past year, they found themselves with third place finish with their horse “Piece of the Rock”.  We wish the new group success and look forward to seeing them at this year’s sales.
