Muscle Babe Wins OSS Gold In Mohawk

Fresh off her sweep of this year’s SBOA Stakes, Muscle Babe returned to Mohawk Racetrack and dominated the three-year-old filly trotters she faced in Monday’s OSS Gold Series division.

With James MacDonald at the lines, Muscle Babe watched Riveting Rosie park Tosca through first-half fractions of :26.4 and :55.3 before serving up a three-wide challenge of her own. Riveting Rosie held on to a narrow lead at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.2, but Muscle Babe used a :29.1 final frame to draw clear by 5-1/4 lengths over Miss Liv in 1:53.3. Riveting Rosie settled for third.

White Becomes Her pulled off an 18-1 upset in the other $105,000 division thanks to her 1:54.1 score for Team Baillargeon. The Angus Hall-Pursuing Keagan lass watched Margie and Danica take turns on the lead through panels of :27.3, :56.2 and 1:25.2 before taking matters into her own hands. Mario Baillargeon tipped his charge off cover turning for home and she used a :28-second closing quarter to win by 1-1/2 lengths over heavily-favoured Danica. Third prize was earned by Margie.
