Mother Nature May Not Have Cooperated, But Mother’s Day Open Houses A Success

It rained, hailed, and snowed, but there were still many who endured what Mother nature could throw at them to attend  the Mother’s Day Open Houses.

Oak Knoll Stables and High Stakes Farm opened their doors, gates and stall doors to welcome the public out to the SBOA second annual Mother’s Day Open House.

Caroline Thornton, owner of Oak Knoll Stables said,” The children really enjoyed meeting the new foals. We gave tours through the barns and fields. The weigh scales in the barn area weighed kids, dogs and horses all afternoon.”

The TV crew from CHEX in Peterborough was out to film the event.

The other open house was held at High Stakes Farm in Moffat, Ontario. Joanne Colville and her staff welcomed visitors all afternoon. Joanne is actively involved with the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society. Anyone interested in owning a horse of their own can contact Joanne through the OSAS site.

The Standardbred Breeders and Owners of Ontario Association would like to thank both of the hosting farms for opening up their homes and barns to the public for the 2013 Mother’s Day Open Houses.
