Heartland TV Star Amber Marshall Pitches in for SBOA Silent Auction

Amber Marshall, star of CBC’s wildly popular Heartland television series, has stepped up to support the fundraising Silent Auction at the annual SBOA Awards Dinner in Guelph on January 22nd.

Amber plays “Amy”, a young lady with a special way with troubled horses, in the family drama set on an Alberta ranch now in Season Four of Sunday night prime time.

She says the series role combines two of her great loves, acting and horses. At one time she worked as a veterinary assistant in a clinic outside her hometown of London, ON.

Marshall will be returning to London this March for the Can-Am All Breeds Equine Emporium on Sunday, March 20th for an autograph session with fans.

The SBOA package is offering a private luncheon with Amber Marshall that Sunday, as well as four weekend Can Am passes, and a $100 Gift Certificate for the Delta London Armouries hotel.

Another unique item on the auction list will be an entertainment getaway donated by Great Canadian Gaming. Included is air fare for two from Toronto to Vancouver, four nights at the River Rock Casino and dinner at Fraser Downs.

Well over 60 lots will be on the table, everything from a Las Vegas National Rodeo Finals vacation to horse feed. There’ll be golf packages, tickets to Maple Leafs and Raptors games, cottage rentals, gourmet gift baskets, Equi-Challenge tickets, trade advertising, O’Brien Awards tickets and accommodation, a Forest City Yearling sale entry and hotel, plus dozens of other appealing items.

Proceeds from the Auction support the activities of the Standardbred Breeders of Ontario Association including two filly stakes races and the successful New Owners Mentorship program for racing newcomers.

Marketing expert Dr. Joan Zielinski will be the featured dinner speaker and will be discussing her 1991 and 2010 reports on harness racing commissioned by the USTA.

The SBOA event is open to everyone, not just breeders, and is always an entertaining evening. The Annual General Meeting begins at the Delta Hotel at 5:00 p.m., with Cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and Dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $60 each, parking included, and can be reserved by calling: Patti Cunning 905-854-1354 or Laurie Poole 519-678-3637.
