Equine Researchers Meeting At Woodbine

Equine researchers will be meeting Thursday, May 22 at Woodbine Racetrack to discuss key research projects which are of interest to the horse racing industry.

The purpose of the presentations is to provide updates and the progress of some of the ongoing research projects.

Some of the topics that will be discussed will include the pros and cons of modern track construction; an update on umbilical cord blood stem cells and their use in the horse; pulmonary artery calcification and potential clinical consequences; and racetime heart rate and sudden death (ECG study).

Speakers will include Dr. Jeff Thomason, Dr. Thomas Koch, Dr. Judith Koenig, Dr. Luis Arroyo and Dr. Peter Physick-Sheard

The update will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in Woodbine’s Northern Dancer Room.
