Chris Van Bussel Memorial Award- Chris Van Bussel was the leading force behind one of Canada’s most successful breeding operations, Seelster Farms.  He was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2004; an honor bestowed only on a select few in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the breeding industry as he sat on numerous boards.  This award is given to an individual of integrity who has served SBOA and industry.

2009 Winner – Robert McIntosh

Lloyd Chisholm Achievement Award- Lloyd Chisholm involvement extended far beyond his Standardbred operation Arawana Farms.  In 1969, he was instrumental in the formation of The Ontario Standardbred Improvement Association that went on to become the SBOA.   He campaigned tirelessly to convince government that an Ontario Sires Stakes program was critical to the success of the breeding industry in Ontario.  He was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame as a builder in the industry in 1991.  This award is given for meritorious service.

2009 Winner – Ted Smith
