Angeliki Claims Victory In Harvest Series Final

Angeliki

Angeliki took home the winner’s share of the $45,400 prize on Monday, Nov. 27 at Woodbine Mohawk Park after she won the Harvest Series Final for sophomore trotting fillies.

Bob McClure and the Mark Etsell student battled to the front before accepting the pocket trip behind Cunning Connie (Tyler Jones).

“She was way better,” Mark Etsell said. “We had the blinds on her and she was hard to sit in a hole, so I switched her to open last week and she was much more relaxed and more content to sit in a hole.”

The first two panels clicked in :29 and :58.4 before favoured Lucy Who (Sylvain Filion) pulled first over and pushed Angeliki into third along the pylons at the three-quarters in 1:28. Lucy Who assumed command, but Angeliki rallied back. She pushed her way to the top and then, never looked back as she took the victory by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:57.4. Lucy Who had to settle for second and Cunning Connie rounded out the top three.

Bred by Synerco Ventures Inc. and owned by Link Stb, the sophomore Muscle Up The Goal filly earned her second win this season in 10 track appearances and her fifth career victory from 17 starts. She moved her career sum to $82,140. Angeliki paid $8.90 to win in the mild 4-1 upset over the favourite.

Hp Mama B took the $32,000 Preferred 2 Trot with Louis-Philippe Roy in the bike for Benoit Baillargeon. The pair got away third off the car from post six as Oney Hall (James MacDonald) completed the opening station with a time of :28. After that split, Hp Mama B charged forward and took command of the timer. She set two more panels in :56.1 and 1:23.3 before winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:54. Oney Hall took second and favoured Pemberton (Trevor Henry) completed the triactor.

Baillargeon bred and owns the five-year-old Royalty For Life mare as she moved her seasonal record to 5-5-7 in 29 starts with $237,480 banked. She earned her 21st career tally and added the $16,000 winnings to a new career total of $883,803. Hp Mama B returned $6.20 to win.
