The Canadian Thoroughbred Society’s Selected yearling Sale held Sept. 3-4 at Woodbine felt the impact of buyer worries about the path ahead for Ontario horse racing.
Official numbers show that the Sale grossed $3,942,000, as opposed to $4,803,500 in 2011, despite selling seven more horses this year. Average sale price was $25,432, down from $32,451 in 2011.
Median price on the 155 head dropped to $18,000, compared with $25,000 one year ago.
The Canadian Thoroughbred Society’s yearling auction will conclude with an Open section on Saturday, September 8th at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion.
